Jürgen Klopp has predicted “there will be fire” when Liverpool face Manchester City on Wednesday and believes that, at their best, his team can stand as equals with the Premier League’s champions-elect.
Liverpool showed little of the verve they will need to achieve that in defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 on Saturday, a performance Klopp said owed much to the staccato preparation necessitated by the international break. The Champions League quarter-final first leg promises a different level of intensity and he believes the atmosphere inside Anfield will make for a gripping affair.
