‘Do we need blood?’ Jürgen Klopp defends Mohamed Salah over ‘dive’
• Arsenal players accuse Mohamed Salah over penalty incident
• ‘We don’t have divers,’ says Liverpool manager
Jürgen Klopp proved far more defiant than Arsenal’s defence as, rather than revelling in a biggest league win over top-six peers for 16 months and Liverpool’s largest lead in this season’s title race, he rejected suggestions Mohamed Salah is a diver by insisting the striker should not have to bleed to win a penalty.

Susanna Dinnage pulls out of becoming Premier League chief executive
• TV executive’s decision a huge blow to organisation
The Premier League has been rocked by the shock withdrawal of Susanna Dinnage from the role of chief executive, to which she was appointed with some fanfare only last month.
Currently the global president of Animal Planet, part of the Discovery group of TV channels, Dinnage was described as “the outstanding choice” when she was announced as the replacement for Richard Scudamore, who has stepped down with a £5m golden goodbye after 19 years in the role.

Pep Guardiola: Title race would be over had Manchester City not won
• Manager says Liverpool are ‘best team in Europe’
• City close gap to seven points before showdown
Pep Guardiola suggested Manchester City’s Premier League title defence would have been over if they had not beaten Southampton, while admitting it remains precariously balanced going into Thursday’s showdown with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
City won 3-1 thanks to goals from David Silva and Sergio Agüero, either side of a James Ward-Prowse own goal, to cut the gap on Liverpool to seven points and improve on a run that had seen them lose three out of four games in the league.

N’Golo Kanté tightens Chelsea’s grip on top four with winner at Crystal Palace
The scoreline may give the impression Chelsea squeezed out a second successive win on their travels but in reality Maurizio Sarri’s team will not enjoy too many away victories as comfortable as this. One flash of quality was all it took to claim the spoils and, suddenly, the gap from fifth place feels more like a five-point chasm.
Given Champions League qualification had always been Sarri’s target, he remains safely on track. Not that the Chelsea manager ever really gives off the impression of being satisfied. He would depart Selhurst Park pointing to a lengthening injury list, with Olivier Giroud on crutches as he left the arena after damaging his left ankle late on, once he had finished bemoaning his players’ inability to kill off the contest long before a mildly anxious last five minutes.

Young McNeil confirms old Burnley’s dominance of West Ham
Burnley picked up a much-needed three points with their first win of the Christmas period, not quite managing to climb out of trouble but looking a lot more like their old selves in holding out against West Ham. Sean Dyche dropped Joe Hart and returned to a 4-4-2 formation in the hope of restoring some of the defensive solidity that has served the club well in the past.
It seemed to work, in that Burnley kept a rare clean sheet, though perhaps judgment should be reserved until opponents who can show a little more attacking conviction are encountered. Tom Heaton was not given a great deal to do in his first league appearance of the season until he made an excellent one-handed stop to foil Andy Carroll at the end. This was one of those tepid West Ham away performances that makes one wonder how they inspire such a large and loyal following, even for an early kick-off in the north.

Brighton’s Chris Hughton warns against ‘looking upwards’ after Everton win
• But Brighton must not ‘start thinking we’re better than we are’
Chris Hughton marks four years in charge of Brighton on Monday and, while he has never been one to luxuriate too fondly in his successes, could be excused a note of satisfaction. Saturday’s 1-0 win over Everton ensured they will end 2018 as the Premier League’s 13th-placed team, a victory away from reaching the top half, and the contrast with the situation he inherited is stark.

Agüero strikes as City survive Saints scare and return to winning ways
The alarm bells shrilled for Manchester City. Almost out of nowhere, they had lost three Premier League games out of four and, with Liverpool flicking on the afterburners, it is no exaggeration to say that another reverse would have imperilled their title defence. Pep Guardiola and his players could feel a bit better after this. City imposed their front-foot football and, although they wobbled at times during the first half, they had too much for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s rebooted Southampton.

Liverpool’s raggedness in swatting aside Arsenal may yet give rivals hope | Jonathan Wilson
There was a moment just before half-time on Saturday, with Liverpool 3-1 up, when Jürgen Klopp strode to the edge of the technical area, eyes flashing behind his glasses, finger jabbing, fury written across his face. Sadio Mané had given the ball away cheaply and had failed to track back and Arsenal had briefly threatened. A couple of minutes later, Mohamed Salah was bundled over by Sokratis Papastathopoulos, converting the resultant penalty and Liverpool were 4-1 up. It was one of those days: however sloppy Liverpool were at times, Arsenal were much, much worse.
In the other technical area, a grimacing Unai Emery looked even more like Alan Partridge than ever, as though trying to give a speech to the sales conference of a firm specialising in coal-effect fires after piercing his foot on a spike. By midway through the first half, he had given up his guiding role on the touchline to sit on the bench: there is, in the end, only so much you can do with those players. The impact Emery has made at Arsenal, the change in style and focus, has been remarkable but sometimes the scorpion is going to sting the frog, however self-defeating it may be, because that is what a scorpion does.

New top story on Hacker News: Ask HN: How can I make the most out of high school?
8 by TheAsprngHacker | 4 comments on Hacker News.
I'm in high school. Soon, I will be in college. Before, I’ve focused mainly on studying and pursuing solitary passions, but not doing social activities. However, I now feel that I'm missing out on typical teenager life, and I'll have regrets when I'm an adult. I just watched an anime following a group of close friends in a band as they pass through high school. I've seen people online state that the anime reminded them of their own high school lives, but it doesn't remind me of my current life at all; it's way too carefree and fun. My online friends have told me that they don't have close friends either, so my life is normal. Today, I saw this: http://bit.ly/2SrB9oN. Granted, the person is saying that they don't relate to looking back on high school. However, the topic is about common things that one can’t relate to, and some repliers said that their own HS lives were carefree. Now, I again feel I am missing something. I like programming, and I've become interested in type theory. I doubt that other people in my school care about this stuff. I take art class, but it's a solitary activity between me and my teacher, not together with other students. I don't know how to make close friends. I can talk to people, but I can't suddenly form a close relationship with somebody. Friendship can’t be forced; it develops naturally. Yet, I've never made a close, loyal friendship, only casual friendships. Before, I've been looking forward to college so I can study my interests. Now, I feel afraid of ending high school. Is it normal that I don't have close friends and that I'm solitary? Am I missing out on anything? What hobbies do you advise me to adopt that I can do in a group, with camaraderie? Will college be the same or different than high school? Can I have the same kind of youthful fun when I'm an adult?

Jürgen Klopp: ‘We may be nine points in front but we have to go to City’
• ‘It does not matter how far ahead you are in December’
Jürgen Klopp said he would prefer to deliver his verdict on Liverpool’s first half of the season after the game against Arsenal, and following another handsome win that took his side nine points clear he was true to his word.
“Nothing to moan about at all,” was the manager’s summary of 20 games unbeaten in the Premier League, even if he did go on to say Liverpool can still play better. “It is not every day you beat Arsenal 5-1 but there were times in the game when we could have played better, and there were certainly times when we could have defended better,” Klopp said.

Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham lost their heads against Wolves
• ‘It’s not enough to play 70 minutes,’ says manager after 3-1 loss
Mauricio Pochettino accused his players of complacency after Tottenham’s stunning late collapse against Wolves dealt their title hopes a major blow.
Tottenham were poised to continue their winning run after taking an early lead through Harry Kane, who would later be booked for diving, but Pochettino’s side fell nine points behind Liverpool after succumbing to an inspired comeback from Wolves at Wembley. Pochettino was unhappy with how his team responded in the second half, admitting they made the mistake of thinking the game was over when they led 1-0.

Maurizio Sarri admits intensity of English game was culture shock
• Italian reflects on halfway point of first season at Chelsea
• ‘Here there are more accelerations, you need a big engine’
Maurizio Sarri says the greatest culture shock he has felt during his transition from Italian to English football has been in the remorselessness of sprinting in matches.
The Chelsea manager is looking forward to Sunday’s visit to Crystal Palace but at the halfway point of his first season outside of his native Italy, he took a moment to reflect. Sarri’s regrets centre on the Premier League defeats at Wolves and at home to Leicester while the high point was surely the victory over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. But what has startled him has been the pace and intensity of the games.

Fulham’s Mitrovic makes late difference in basement clash with Huddersfield
To judge this match by the scenes at the final whistle you might have thought a cup final had just taken place. Ryan Jack strike helps Rangers end Old Firm winless run against Celtic
Steven Gerrard and Brendan Rodgers played down the wider significance of this result but Old Firm victories can never be viewed in isolation. The epic scale of celebrations as Rangers finally tripped up Rodgers, at the 13th attempt, endorsed a rising sense that we may be witnessing a title race after all. The only travesty as this fixture concluded was that Rangers, so utterly dominant from start to finish, did not win by more.
Celtic hold a game in hand but that Rangers have joined them on 42 points as the Scottish top flight shuts down resonated way beyond a single game.

Abdoulaye Doucouré rescues point for Watford against Newcastle
Abdoulaye Doucouré, admired by clubs who could spend big this January, notably Paris Saint-Germain, underlined his importance to Watford by coming off the bench to rescue his team from an embarrassing defeat.
Rafael Benítez maintains that his side will need a miracle to avoid relegation this season, but they were on course for three deserved points thanks to an excellent counterattacking goal by Salomón Rondón. Then Doucouré struck with eight minutes remaining to endear himself further to Watford fans – and, no doubt, to other clubs’ scouts.

Víctor Camarasa’s injury-time wonder goal gives Cardiff win at Leicester
It was one of those moments that take your breath away and for Cardiff and their supporters provided the perfect end to 2018. The game was deep into stoppage time and heading for stalemate when Víctor Camarasa picked the ball up on the left, about 25 yards from goal, and curled a wonderful shot that arced over the head of Kasper Schmeichel and into the top corner. Cue pandemonium in the away end and wild celebrations among the Cardiff players.
There were 92 minutes on the clock and Cardiff were not going to relinquish their grip on the most precious of victories. It is their first on the road this season, only their third in 29 Premier League away fixtures – the last was back in April 2014 – and lifted Neil Warnock’s side four points clear of the relegation zone.

Roundup: Police arrest man over abuse of Hearts defender Clévid Dikamona
• Hearts win 1-0, Aberdeen leave it late to beat Livingston
A 65-year-old man has been arrested after Hearts defender Clévid Dikamona was subjected to alleged racial abuse at Easter Road. A Hibernian fan was seen on live television shouting abuse as the French-born Congo international was being told to leave the pitch by the referee following treatment for an injury.
Police Scotland’s event commander for the Edinburgh derby, Supt Jim Royan, said: “A 65-year-old man has now been arrested following the racial abuse of a Hearts player, and inquiries are currently ongoing into this. There is no place in Scotland for hate crime and I want to reassure the public that reports of such incidents will be treated seriously. Fans have united in their condemnation of this behaviour and I want to thank the public for their assistance with our investigation so far.”

Jürgen Locadia strike enough to steer Brighton to victory over Everton
Six weeks ago, Jürgen Locadia, down on his luck and appearing to correctly perceive his Premier League move had turned sour, suggested he would use the winter months “to think if this is still good for me”.
Brighton would say it seems pretty fine at this point. Locadia, a £14m purchase from PSV Eindhoven in January, had not scored this season until Boxing Day and seemed bound to be remembered as a footnote in history: the one-time record signing who rarely played and hardly found the net. But he has now earned his team four points in four days, his winner on the hour punishing Everton for a negligent start to the second half and if the outcome offered few definitive conclusions about two maddeningly inconsistent sides then perhaps it at least lessened Chris Hughton’s need to shuffle his attacking pack next month.

Roberto Firmino hits hat-trick as Liverpool rout shambolic Arsenal
It seems Pep Guardiola might be wrong about Liverpool feeling the pressure now they are out in front in the Premier League – all the slip-ups and chokes are currently coming from the teams immediately below them, with the leaders sailing serenely on.
Jürgen Klopp’s team were almost untouchable here, taking advantage of Tottenham’s unexpected collapse at Wembley to open up an impressive nine-point gap at the top of the table. Klopp insists it is too early to talk about titles and leads, though if his side are still unbeaten after their visit to the Etihad on Thursday it is hard to imagine who or what might derail the most powerful assault on the Premier League Liverpool have ever mounted.

None of the top three were able to record a win on a rollercaoster afternoon in the second tier. Leeds could not repeat their Boxing Day heroics during the visit of Hull City, who came away with a shock win thanks to a goal in each half from Jarrod Bowen. Ten-man West Brom needed a 95th-minute own goal from David Jones to salvage a point at home to a rejuvenated Sheffield Wednesday, after Jay Rodriguez saw red for the first time in his career, while Norwich failed, like their floodlights, to take advantage of events at Elland Road, losing 4-3 at home to Derby despite another two goals for Teemu Pukki. Enjoying similarly free-scoring seasons are Tammy Abraham, who netted in Aston Villa’s 1-1 draw at Preston North End, and Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp, whose double helped put Blackburn to the sword for the promotion hopefuls.

Derby’s Jack Marriott seals seven-goal thriller after Norwich floodlight drama
Frank Lampard said he had never seen a game like it after his Derby side scored two late goals following a floodlight failure to seal a dramatic 4-3 win at Carrow Road.
Norwich had just gone 3-2 up with nine minutes remaining when a section of the lights went out between the Regency Stand and City Stand due to a fuse-box problem, causing a 20-minute delay. When play resumed the Rams equalised almost immediately through Florian Jozefzoon and then grabbed a stoppage-time winner when Jack Marriott muscled his way through before beating Tim Krul.

Fernandinho’s glaring absence reveals flaw in Manchester City masterplan | Jamie Jackson
Pep Guardiola’s failure to find a credible back-up for Fernandinho despite a £542.9m spend on players since taking over as Manchester City manager in 2016 is receiving heightened scrutiny. City have lost three times in four league games and significantly Fernandinho’s thigh problem forced him to miss the losses to Crystal Palace and Leicester. The player Guardiola believes could operate in any outfield position is in contention for Sunday’s trip to Southampton but he may not start.
City’s slump has allowed Liverpool to take advantage at the top of the Premier League and without Fernandinho the fear is they may slip further behind. City are already 11 points worse off than at the season’s midpoint a year ago.

Fascism is thriving again in Italy – and finding its home on the terraces | Tobias Jones
This week has shown, once again, that Italian football has a deep-seated problem with racism and fascism. At the Boxing Day game at the San Siro stadium in Milan, the black Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly was booed for the entire match. Then, the next day, it was revealed that the fan who had died in a fight before the game between rival “ultras” (the hardcore fans) was a neo-Nazi member of a gang called Blood and Honour.
No country is free of racism, as the banana skin thrown at the recent north London derby and the abuse of Raheem Sterling, made clear. But in Italy, the problem isn’t a result of individual idiocy, but of widespread group planning. The incidents aren’t isolated, but incessant. Anne Frank stickers are used by Lazio ultras to invoke death to their Roma rivals. “Jew” is a common taunt on stadium banners, and fascist and Nazi symbols – swastikas, celtic crosses, the Wehrmacht eagle and straight-arm salutes – appear every Sunday. Players even celebrate goals by giving the Roman salute back to their fans (Paolo Di Canio’s repeated use of the gesture was simply the most famous example of it).

New top story on Hacker News: Show HN: SirixDB (Open Source/Java) – versioning through efficient snapshotting

I've already posted yesterday, but I'd really love to get comments, any kind of questions, suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated as it's an Open Source project of mine (and was for others during my studies at the University of Konstanz 6 years ago). Since then I spent countless ours to bring forth the idea of a versioned storage system, especially well suited for analytical tasks for timd-varying data. Especially I'd love to discuss what documentation you need, which next steps are necessary (JSON, Cloud...), API additions or changes... I've updated the README quiet a bit, such that the set up of the asynchronous, RESTful HTTP(S) Server is easier :-) however I could use some help with the Docker stuff. http://sirix.io

Liverpool’s Jürgen Klopp: you have not seen the best of us yet
• ‘We’re doing better than we expected but no one is celebrating’
• Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain training and could return this season
Jürgen Klopp has just had the best Christmas imaginable. Not only are Liverpool six points clear at the top of the Premier League but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in training. Yet, despite everything looking sunny at the halfway point of the season, the manager insists his side can improve.
“I don’t think we have been seen at our very best yet,” Klopp said before Saturday’s visit of Arsenal. “We have had very good moments but overall we have not been as spectacular as we were at times last season. We don’t concede as often but people ask what has happened to the free-flowing football. It’s like a kid getting a nice present for Christmas then asking where’s the other one. You can’t always have everything; sometimes it is best to be grateful for what you’ve got.

The Guardian footballer of the year 2018: Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw
The Guardian Footballer of the Year is an award given to a player who has done something truly remarkable, whether by overcoming adversity, helping others or setting a sporting example by acting with exceptional honesty. Khadija “Bunny” Shaw is our third winner following Fabio Pisacane in 2016 and Juan Mata in 2017.
There is a warmth and gentle magnetism about Khadija “Bunny” Shaw that is immediate and fills the room, a personality as towering as the nearly 6ft frame that pounded in one goal after another during a breathless year of double duty for Jamaica and the University of Tennessee.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: The gloss-finished striker we hardly notice | Barney Ronay
The Arsenal striker has a claim to be the most thrillingly old-fashioned centre-forward in the Premier League
OK, but apart from that. Apart from scoring more goals in the last three and a half seasons than anyone else we have seen in England. Apart from being the Premier League top scorer in a new-build team still trying to work out their rhythm and shape. And apart from doing all this with a thrillingly controlled range of movement, that easy grace that scarcely leaves a dent in the dew. Apart from all that. What has Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang actually done to commend himself as the deadliest, most thrillingly old-school centre-forward in the Premier League?

‘Craig Bellamy swung the golf club hard. He could have ended my career’
In an extract from his new autobiography, John Arne Riise gives his account of the extraordinary bust-up that overshadowed Liverpool’s Champions League visit to Barcelona in 2007
The team travelled to the Algarve to recharge for our Champions League match against Barcelona. For five days we were going to do some light training, play golf, relax in the sun and socialise. That was the plan.
We stayed at Barringtons Golf and Spa hotel, which was located in an exclusive resort called Vale do Lobo. I shared a room with Daniel Agger. On Thursday it was decided we should have a team dinner without the trainers and managers. At these dinners the players were allowed to have a beer or two, something I never took advantage of. But a couple of beers wasn’t going to hurt anyone else. If only they had managed to stick to a couple.

Maurizio Sarri tells Chelsea it is ‘time to decide’ on Eden Hazard’s future
• Sarri likes Hazard as false nine despite player’s reservations
Maurizio Sarri has made plain his frustration over the contractual standoff between Eden Hazard and Chelsea by telling the club’s hierarchy it is “time to decide” on the winger’s future for the good of the club.
Hazard’s deal expires in June 2020 and, despite Chelsea’s best efforts, ongoing since the summer of 2017, he has decided against extending his terms.

Old Firm derby: Steven Gerrard urges Rangers to go for one last push
• Manager insists Rangers should ‘always look to be at the top’
• Visitors Celtic have won seven league titles in succession
Steven Gerrard should relish the brief calm that follows Glasgow’s unruly football storm. Rangers’ manager will oversee his 38th competitive fixture of the season – and last before a winter break – as Celtic visit Ibrox on Saturday. Amid a kaleidoscope of emotions, including for Gerrard himself, it has been easy to forget this marks the Liverpool icon’s maiden campaign as a first-team manager.
“Nothing has surprised,” Gerrard said on Friday. “I knew before a ball was kicked there was a demand to win every fixture no matter what competition it was in. I knew if we overperformed that supporters would get carried away and I also knew if we had a bump or a result that wasn’t in our favour, there would be an overreaction.”

Marco Silva says he is tired of being told he must buy a striker for Everton
• Richarlison is not far from the top of the list, manager adds
• Manager is not envisaging a busy transfer window at Goodison
Marco Silva is relaxed about Everton’s goalscoring capability as the transfer window approaches, though he is fed up with being told the club need to buy a striker to replace Romelu Lukaku.
Everton’s inability to do that was one of the factors in Ronald Koeman losing his job in October 2017 and, though his successor, Sam Allardyce, brought in Cenk Tosun last January, the Turkey international has not proved quite as prolific as the club had hoped and is being used sparingly.

Rafael Benítez: no chance of Newcastle selling Jonjo Shelvey in January
• Benítez says players understand his ‘miracle’ comment
Rafael Benítez has said there is “no chance” of Newcastle selling Jonjo Shelvey to Fulham or anyone else during the impending transfer window.
It has been suggested that Claudio Ranieri is keen to transport Shelvey to Craven Cottage with Tom Cairney – a player admired by Benítez – moving in the opposite direction but that idea has now been quashed.

Dominic Solanke set to opt for Crystal Palace ahead of Brighton in loan move
• England U-21 forward said to prefer loan deal in south London
• Brighton had hoped to secure Solanke on permanent basis
Crystal Palace and Brighton are going head to head in pursuit of the England Under-21 forward Dominic Solanke, who is expected to leave Liverpool next month in search of regular football.
Solanke, a prolific scorer in Chelsea’s youth teams before his controversial switch to Merseyside in 2017, has scored only one Premier League goal and is yet to play a minute of competitive action this season, having seen his progress hampered by niggling injuries and heightened competition.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has said it is down to Alexis Sánchez and Romelu Lukaku to be self-motivated and follow Paul Pogba’s example by proving their worth again at Manchester United – because this should be the “best time of their life”.
The interim manager has selected Pogba for his opening two games and been rewarded with impressive displays from the midfielder. Sánchez and Lukaku have been out of form this season but Solskjær is adamant it is not down to him to improve them.

Peter Hill-Wood, former Arsenal chairman, dies aged 82
• ‘He guided the club with vision’ says Wenger
Prominent Arsenal figures expressed their affection and respect for Peter Hill-Wood on Friday after he died at the age of 82. Hill-Wood joined the club’s board in 1962 and was promoted to the position of chairman in 1982, where he served until ill health forced him to step down in 2013.
Hill-Wood oversaw the managerial appointments of George Graham and Arsène Wenger and a trophy haul that included five league titles, five FA Cups, two League Cups and the European Cup Winners’ Cup. He was a key figure in the formation of the Premier League and Arsenal’s move from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool v Arsenal: match preview
Liverpool look strong favourites to beat an Arsenal side still reeling from injuries in defence. Jürgen Klopp’s aggressive style could produce a similar scoreline to the 4-0 win last season at Anfield. Unai Emery has the chance to show his tactical nous, considering how limited his options are, but he could be forgiven for wishing this match came in January when Arsenal have brought in reinforcements. He could scarcely have wished for more yet it is what lies ahead that tantalises. Can Spurs win the league? Play like they have done since Pochettino was strongly linked to Manchester United and they could. Wolves have stabilised after a wobble and they will threaten on the counter. David Hytner

Watford v Newcastle: match preview
Watford’s revival ended at the hands of Chelsea but a spirited display in defeat will give Javi Gracia hope they can rebound against struggling Newcastle. Rafael Benítez will want a repeat of the performance from earlier in the season when his side recorded their first win after 10 games against Gracia’s. Benítez still believes it will take a miracle for Newcastle to avoid relegation and he may be on to something if they fail to win here as Manchester United and Chelsea are up next. Graham Searles

Leicester v Cardiff: match preview
Unlikely victories over Chelsea and Manchester City have elevated Leicester to seventh and eased the pressure on Claude Puel. With Cardiff up next, Leicester will hope to make it three straight wins, given Neil Warnock’s side have collected only two points on the road all season. The Cardiff manager is expected to bring Harry Arter and Aron Gunnarsson back into the starting lineup but Callum Paterson, who has been converted into a striker, faces a fitness test. Brighton v Everton: match preview
Everton become the first club to complete 4,500 top-flight matches against Brighton, and they travel in mixed form. A pre-Christmas 6-2 thumping by Spurs was followed by a 5-1 win at Burnley on Boxing Day and with Richarlison expected to start after appearing as a scoring substitute at Turf Moor, they will be expecting to add more goals. Brighton have Lewis Dunk restored to the defence after suspension but will be without their goalkeeper Mat Ryan, who has played every minute of every league match since Albion returned to the top flight in 2017, as he has joined up with Australia for the Asian Cup in the UAE. Fulham v Huddersfield: match preview
Second-bottom Fulham host last-placed Huddersfield. A relegation six-pointer, despite the season having only reached the halfway stage. Neither side can climb out of the mire with a win but avoiding being further cut adrift will be imperative to both managers. David Wagner’s first win of the season came against Fulham in November but, with Claudio Ranieri in charge, Fulham have tightened up. If they continue that trend Ranieri will be confident his side have the better chance. Huddersfield have lost six in a row, while scoring only four goals. Graham Searles
